self belief is Overrated self proof is Better — thoughts (9)

I agree that belief is a powerful force and it precedes most great achievements, if not all. But there are many moments, especially for creatives, when self-belief is not available, not strong enough, or simply absent. And yet, the work still has to be done.

When self-belief fails, the only reliable path forward is structure: set goals, set deadlines, outline your tasks, and execute them. Do the work regardless of how you feel about yourself in the moment. If the result is great, good! You created something worthwhile. If it isn’t, nothing is lost; you didn’t need belief to begin with.

In these cases, the work comes before self-belief, and basically (most times!) becomes the very thing that builds it.

So focus on getting the work done. Your feelings will always be there, but they don’t need to be in charge.
