how to predict the future
Divination teaches us that the actions of the PRESENT—the now, predict the highest possible outcomes of the FUTURE—the next things that can take place.
Divination is largely described as a “spiritual” practice of seeking insight, guidance, or answers from the unseen world, usually through the use of sacred tools or intuitive methods.
I disagree with the “spiritual” label, but i understand it’s uses.
Divination should be understood as an art or science of seeking insight, guidance, or answers from the unconscious. Anyone who is “divining” is actively trying to communicate with or engage universal or subjective (un)consciousness.
When we begin to understand it this way, then it becomes clearer that anyone can divine. It is a skill that can be learned.
But this is not a piece on how to be(come) a diviner, it is a reflection on how to predict the future.
I only bring up the subject of divination because as a diviner it is where i have chosen to pull up the answer to this question from.
The rookie mistake diviners make (count me in) when divining, is to offer predictions as prophecies instead of possibilities. The distinction between a prophecy and a possibility is that one is fixed (a prophecy) while the other is probabilistic (a possibility).
But they are both predictions, regardless.
If you are naive enough, (not a bad thing), to approach a diviner for answers. It is the diviners responsibility to clearly distinguish whether or not the insights they are giving you are possibilities or prophecies.
I’d have you know that 99% of diviners (myself included) are not prophets.
A possibility is something that can happen or could be true, even if it hasn’t happened yet. It represents a potential outcome or option that exists within a range of choices or future scenarios.
Possibilities remind us that the future is not fixed, as things can change based on actions, choices, and circumstances.
So what can we learn from divination about predicting the future?
The future is only predictable based on current observable actions (activities), choices or circumstances. The moment those factors change, we must change our predictions as well.
If you want to accurately predict the future or a future outcome, then you must thoroughly understand the activities or events of the present.
The more you understand of the present, (sometimes even the past), the more accurately you can predict the future.
